How we equipped Morrison Energy Services to safely carry out overhead line works
When Morrison Energy Services were carrying out essential refurbishment works on overhead power lines, we installed vehicle bridges and supplied 25 kilometres of Trakway panels at the peak of the project, enabling access and allowing the work to be carried out safely and efficiently in remote locations.

Our equipment and services supplied at a glance:
- 11m x 3m vehicle bridge with 7m Ramps
- 6m x 4m trench crossing
- 25km aluminium and plastic trakway panels
Morrison Energy Services were upgrading overhead power lines to ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply to thousands of homes and businesses in the years to come.
To allow the work to be carried out, access was required to remote overhead line tower locations. We supplied and installed a total of four vehicle bridges and a trench crossing in order to allow operatives to carry out the work safely.
The challenge
The project presented significant challenges, including maintaining the highest safety standards while working near hazardous overhead power lines. Access to remote tower sites required robust and reliable temporary infrastructure solutions, capable of supporting heavy machinery and avoiding environmental disruption.
The solution
We were able to advise the best possible solution for each site where refurbishment work was to be carried out, and planned the most efficient route avoiding the overhead power lines for bridge locations.
Some trakway routes were adapted to allow safe installation of the vehicle bridges and there was close liaison with our Project Manager on timings for installations so as not to delay the trakway access works. Equipment used on the project was up to 25 tonnes and the bridges were robust enough to withstand this weight.
The result
Our equipment solutions and expertise allowed Morrison Energy Services to carry out the work safely and proficiently to help deliver reliable electricity. Efficiencies were also made, as using vehicle bridges reduced the need for additional trakway panels to gain
access to towers, as shorter routes could be taken.
Sunbelt Rentals have been very easy to work with and stuck to the agreed dates for installation. Specifications for the vehicle bridges and competencies of installation operatives were provided far in advance of works beginning. The bridges have been compliant with temporary works regulations and have withstood multiple trips with up to 25 tonnes of machinery.Robert Fox Team Manager, Morrison Energy Services
