JCB Win 2020 MacRobert Award for JCB 19C-1E Electric Excavator

Congratulations to JCB… we would like to join many others in the industry in congratulating JCB on winning this year’s MacRobert award, global recognition for their JCB 19C-1E Electric Excavator, the first of its kind in the world.
The MacRobert Award has been recognizing worldwide engineering achievements since 1969. Run by the Royal Academy of Engineering, the award celebrates outstanding innovations with tangible societal benefit and proven commercial success.
So, we would like to join many others in the industry in congratulating JCB on winning this year’s award for their Electric Excavator the first of its kind in the world.
The compact JCB 19C-1E joins a list of former winners that include the catalytic converter and the Millennium Dome.
With hundreds already out and working within the construction sector, it’s already been calculated to have saved 15,100kg in CO2 emissions across 5,616 hours of work.
JCB Engineering team behind the Electric Excavator have been praised for developing all parts of the electric propulsion system to deliver system performance that matches real customer requirements.
This, coupled with additional benefits of zero exhaust emissions and much lower noise has lifted the 19C-1E excavator to a new level and has the power to be the catalyst for change in the industry, paving the way to a zero carbon future and helping make the world more sustainable.
