CITB Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)

See Course Dates

This one-day Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS) course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects that affect the environment in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It is designed to meet the basic environmental knowledge that the sub-contract chain is required to prove to major contractors and covers the environmental aspects of the new HS&E touch screen test.

It will also enable delegates to identify, control and minimise the environmental impacts of their work, identify environmental improvement opportunities, and provide a broad understanding of the environment and the issues construction sites face.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials.

Agenda:

  • Supervising and protecting the environment through legal provisions
  • Environmental management systems and processes to mitigate environmental damage
  • Reducing statutory nuisance and disturbance to neighbours
  • The impact that archaeology and heritage can have on construction
  • Control of water consumption and limiting the impact construction has on natural water supplies
  • Implementing control measures to prevent the pollution of watercourses
  • Identifying ethically sourced timber through the chain-of-custody entering the site
  • Identifying, controlling and managing contamination on brownfield sites
  • Classifying, segregating and properly disposing of waste.
  • End of course test

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, it has been developed for construction supervisors and managers. Delegates must be competent in English at the site supervisor/manager level.

Following the successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded a digital CITB Site Safety Plus certificate valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, delegates will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Companies who are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
