EUSR Cat 1: Cat & Genny Locate Utility Services
EUSR Category 1: Locate Utility Services covers the training and assessment required for those working to safely detect utility services using recognised and approved detection methods. The standard has been derived from the National Occupational Standards.
The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.
Agenda:
- Legislation and guidance regarding underground services, including HSG47, HSWA 1974, HSG150, EUSMUNC06, and EUSEPUS044
- The importance of properly interpreting utility drawings and line search documents
- The proper use of cable location devices, such as Cat & Genny, to accurately locate utility services
- An awareness of the potential dangers and hazards involved in conducting ground survey detection
- Acknowledgement of the limitations of underground utility detection equipment and drawings
- An awareness of the true costs associated with utility ‘strikes’ for contractors, stakeholders, and society
This course is for delegates who are required to oversee or carry out work employing underground services detection devices. In addition, delegates who must understand utility drawings and employ service detection equipment to locate a wide variety of underground services successfully would benefit from this course.
Delegates must have basic spoken and written English skills.
Successful delegates will receive an EUSR photo ID card.
Companies who are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
