Legionella Risk Assessing of Hot & Cold Water Systems

This course is designed for delegates who require training in Legionella Risk Assessing of Hot & Cold-Water Systems. 

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests. 

These will include: 

  • Knowledge of the origins of Legionnaires' Disease, Legionella bacteria, and the factors that allow them to multiply in engineered water systems. 
  • Identification of the conditions necessary for Legionella-associated infections to take place. 
  • Awareness of current legal requirements, approved codes of practice, and best practice guidance. 
  • Basic design of water systems and their components.  
  • An overview of other risk systems. 
  • Implementation of a Legionella control plan with suitable monitoring programmes and records as identified in the Health & Safety Executive's technical guidance documents HSG274 Parts 2 and 3 dealing with the control of Legionella bacteria in both hot and cold-water systems and other risk systems. 
  • Understanding the written scheme of control for Legionella. 
  • General awareness of the risk assessment processes as defined in BS 8580-1 for hot and cold-water systems are all essential for effective risk management. 

This course is suited to delegates who require an introduction to assessing Legionnaires’ disease and matters concerning the control of Legionella bacteria in hot and cold-water services.  

Successful delegates will receive a City & Guilds “Certificate of Attainment” for this Legionella Responsible Persons Training (Cooling Towers) Course.  

Companies who are CITB registered and meet their grant scheme eligibility requirements may be able to claim for a short course duration grant. Please contact us for further information.
