Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator

This course provides a range of knowledge and practical skills in providing basic life support (BLS) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely. Delegates will practise assessing and managing a casualty who needs BLS and the safe use of an AED.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical assignments. Delegates will be assessed through a mixture of theory and practical tests.

These will include how to:

  • Manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Safely use an automated external defibrillator
  • Safely use an automated external defibrillator
  • Practical assessments

This 5-hour course is for delegates with a specific interest or responsibility at work or in voluntary and community activities, such as a first aider who wants to be able to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency that may involve using an AED.

Delegates must be able to perform practical tasks at floor level, and due to the practical nature of this course, delegates should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear.

Successful delegates will receive a Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator e-Certificate valid for 3 years.
