What is Information Security?

Information Security is the practice of deploying people, policies, processes and technologies to protect organisations, their critical systems and sensitive information from digital attacks.  

Information security is important because, to effectively deliver services, Sunbelt Rentals collects, processes, and stores large amounts of data on computers and other devices. A significant portion of this data is sensitive information, including financial data, personal information, or other types of data for which unauthorised access or exposure could have negative consequences.

What is CIA?

1. Attacks on Confidentiality – stealing, or rather copying personal or sensitive information.

2. Attacks on Integrity – seeking to corrupt, damage or destroy information or systems and the people who rely on them.

3. Attacks on Availability – denial of services, disrupting business as seen in forms such as ransomware.

Investing in information

To help protect our employees, systems and data from cyber-attacks and malicious behaviour, we've invested in world class systems, software, tools and accreditations.

1. Information Security Management System (ISMS) certified to the ISO27001 standard – The ISMS details and manages the Information Security controls and risks for the business.

2. Cyber Essentials – This is a UK government scheme which provides customers with the assurance that we are working to an agreed framework to protect our IT against cyber-attacks.

Lasting peace of mind

We also carry out regular external penetration tests and Red Team exercises to validate and prove that our cyber security controls are effective. All the controls and certifications listed above provide employees and our customers with the assurance that their data is appropriately controlled and protected when held by us.
